Mountain bikes are sized by letter, and your height picks the letter. Seat tubes have got shorter with dropper posts, so frame inches matter less than they used to.

Mountain bike size questions
What size mountain bike for 5′9″?
M at evo and most brands (169–178 cm). Specialized’s Rockhopper overlaps M and L at 175–178 cm: pick M for nimble handling, L for stability.
Do frame inches still matter?
Less than they did. Modern frames have short seat tubes and dropper posts, so brands size by letter and rider height. Inches are a standover check.
